TOO WEE, TOO POOR

THE TRUTH ABOUT SCOTLAND'S ECONOMY

It's not what we have been told. Scotland has a modern efficient prosperous economy.

Same size economy as Portugal with only half the population.

Same GDP as France.
(gross domestic product, ie pounds earned per head of population)

Scotland the so called basket case economy that has to be subsidised by London, currently has the strongest economy in the U.K. outside of the South East of England.

The only major oil producer in the world that has to be subsidised by it's resource poor neighbour??

With our assets & ingenuity we should be much wealthier.

We are currently producing 5 times the energy we consume. Our surplus energy being used elsewhere in the U.K.

Nearly all of our electricity is being produced from green renewable energy. As yet we have barely scratched the surface of the renewable energy available to us in Scotland.
Not only can we benefit hugely from the production of Green Energy, but also from its use.
In the near future in an effort to slow global warming, harsher penalties will be introduced for those industries using fossil fuels. Scotland a country powered by renewable energy will be an attractive place to do business.

Our economy. Future growth?

As part of the U.K. Scottish Fiscal Commission projected average growth of the Scottish economy is 0.9%
Projected average growth for U.K. economy 1.4%

With all of our assets how can our growth be lower than U.K. average.

How do we compare to similar countries in Europe.

Denmark & Sweden do not have our natural resources but have a higher G.D.P. than U.K.
Ireland, a country often sneered at by the British Establishment, has a G.D.P. over 20% higher than the U.K.
Ireland has a smaller population than Scotland & nowhere near the natural resources we have. ?????

BETTER TOGETHER

IT'S OK TO CHANGE YOUR MIND

The British media have always been in Ca-hoots with Westminster to keep us in the dark about Scotland's wealth. They fear if we find out the truth there will be one less country in the Empire.

The Act of Union in 1707, we are told, saved a bankrupt Scotland after the disastrous "Darien Scheme" in Central America. They don't tell you that it was the English Government that sabotaged the scheme. It's collapse meant huge losses for the merchant classes of Scotland (the only people who had a vote). The English Parliament reimbursed Scotland's merchants their Darien loses & gave them trading rights with English colonies. After hundred's of years of trying to conquer Scotland, they wised up & bribed the right people. "Bought & sold for English gold".

The Act of Union Treaty was signed in a stable behind the Edinburgh Parliament because a "riotous mob" the people were breaking down the front door in an attempt to stop the Union. When word got out riots broke out in most of Scotland's cities.

The Union. How did it work out? Good for some. In particular the English aristocracy who had access to Scotland's resources. At the time of Union Scotland's population was around 20% of England. Now it's 8% that tells the story.

In 1900 Scotland had the highest GDP of any country in the world.

Coal, steel, engineering, shipbuilding. At it's peak one fifth of the world's ships were built on the Clyde.

Most of this wealth was not seen by the common person (as in England).

Still happening today.

Only as the century moved on did things improve through The Labour Movement & in more recent years the threat of the SNP has meant we have to be appeased by being allowed to keep slightly more of our own wealth.

Yet despite all our resources, until the recent immigration from Eastern Europe our population has been in decline.
A country with our resources can't sustain our population???
Time for change.

SCOTLANDS DEFICIT.

Scottish parliament must balance it's budget. Not allowed to borrow to make up for a shortfall.

Unionist's tell us an Independant Scotland would have a £12b black hole in our budget.
This creates the image that Scotland is subsidised by Westminster.
The opposite is true.
Scotland sends more tax revenue to Westminster than it gets back in the block grant.
They say the difference is to cover the cost of reserved U.K. expenses.
Westminster spends money like a drunken sailor (mainly in Southern England) to such an extent that our surplus is spent. They still want to spend more. They borrow money in the U.k's name. Divide that figure by our population share 8% and tell us we have a deficit of £12b.

Latest G.E.R.S (Government Expenditure & Revenue Scotland ) figures seems to have been compiled by people who don't realise most of the country now has a smart phone.
It tells us that in the year 2018/2019 Scotland had a deficit of £13 Billion.
An unsustainable 7% of G.D.P which would bar us from E.U. entry & shows the huge benefit we get from being in the U.K.
Now get your phone out & Google U.K. deficit 2018/2019 you will find the U.K. had a deficit of £25 Billion.
So Scotland 8% of U.K. population which has the largest oil & gas reserves in Western Europe. Our Parliament legally must balance it's budget. Has lower unemployment than the U.K. average. The only " region " of the U.K. that exports more than it imports.
Has the U.k's best performing economy outwith the S.E. of England.
They want us to believe we are responsible for more than 50% of U.k's deficit.
Does that smell right to you ?????

"SCOTLAND'S G.D.P PER HEAD IS BIGGER THAN THAT OF FRANCE"
Financial Times

"AN INDEPENDENT SCOTLAND WOULD START WITH HEALTHIER STATE FINANCES THAN THE REST OF THE U.K."
Financial Times

"SCOTLAND RECEIVES NO NET SUBSIDY FROM THE U.K."
Scotland has 8.3% of U.K. population.
Produces 9.2% of U.K Gross domestic product

"SCOTLAND ONE OF THE WORLD'S TOP EXPORTERS"

Financial Times in 2021. An article published by a leading economist, is now saying that due to the change of economic circumstances between 2014 & 2021 an Independent Scotland is now a basket case.
They must really be worried if even the Financial Times has to totally misrepresent the data.

Rather than me trying to explain why this is not the case, CLICK ON THE LINK below & read Professor Richard Murphy (Englishman) of Tax Research U.K.

Whenever they tell us we would be worse off remember we are 8.3% of U.K & we produce 9.2% of U.K. Gross Domestic Product.

Any debt we would have as an Independent country we already have as part of the Union.
Scotland produces more than our population share within the U.K. How is it possible to think an Independent Scotland with a better GDP than U.K would be unable to service the same debt.
If we are taking our fair share of debt, we also need fair share of assets, including the Billions of pounds of assets the U.K. has overseas.

2014 Referendum there was depreciation in the value of the pound & a fear it would fall a lot more, due to loss of Scotland's assets.

Surely if Westminster was getting rid of a subsidy junkie the pound would have risen?

"ALL PEOPLE'S HAVE THE RIGHT TO SELF DETERMINATION"
United Nations

Scotland is not a colony. The Act of Union in 1707 is a legal treaty.
We can dissolve this treaty if the majority wish to do so.

Several Tory Government Ministers when talking about Brexit have said they know of no freely entered into treaty that either party cannot withdraw from if they so wish.

Costing us too much to be part of the U.K

YOU      YES      YET?

INDYREF 14
The big frighteners.

EUROPEAN UNION
Now we are not allowed to stay in & not even allowed to contribute to getting a decent trade agreement.

CAN'T USE THE POUND?
Of course you can. Any country in the world can use the pound. It's what's called a floating currency.
The only question was. Would we be part of an official currency union with the Bank of England (tax payer owned. ie 8% is our asset)?

So on Independence Day we would continue to use the pound at the current exchange rate until such time when we may want our own currency.

Michael Forsyth, arch Thatcherite, main scaremonger for better together who sneered that Scotland may have to use the Groat if Independent, has since admitted using the pound would not be a problem.

More importantly, previous Bank Of England Governor Mervyn King has said he didn't see any problem with Scotland using Sterling.

WON'T GET YOUR PENSION

PROMISES MADE & BROKEN

The man who instigated "The Vow"
Has changed his mind.

Since 2001 the tax revenue raised in Scotland has increased by 30% The amount of our tax revenue retained by Westminster has in that time increased by an additional 13%. Now £30 Billion per year. Bearing in mind the Scottish Parliament opened in 2004 why would Westminster need to keep even more of our money ?

Occasionally they go off message & forget the official line that Scotland is a basket case, that has to be subsidised by London.

Phillip Hammond, then Chancellor being asked about a poll of Tory members which said if it's a choice between Brexit & keeping Scotland in the Union a majority would choose Brexit. Chancellor said. Scotland leaving the Union "would deprive Britain's next leader of the money needed to end austerity"(Reuters. June 2019) Who is subsidising who ????
